Vision-Attention Training

Now it’s time to train your vision and perception and to learn from the pros the best visual strategies.

  • Improve your visual skills
  • Learning how to develop your awareness
  • Control your gaze and your attention under pressure
  • Pick up only the relevant information during the competition.

Perception, attention and gaze control training is still an unknown area in sport. Though, leading coaches think it contains the potential for significant enhancement of individual skills by all sports men and women, from Olympic champions to junior athletes or amateurs.

I am specialized in the field of perception and human movement. I have examined the characteristics of the best athletes: The world’s greatest champions have specific vision routines, specific gaze and visual strategies. My research grew out of my interests in understanding the role that vision, attention and gaze play in the improvement of performance, especially in tennis and ball sports.

We often see vision, attention and focus as natural or innate skills. But it is something you can discover, work and master too! Yes, you can train and improve your vision and attention. And you can do it through proper gaze and head movement control.

Attention is critical for getting to the top of your game. Your attention determines how quickly, accurately and efficiently you perform. Poor attention and visual skills lead for example to missing the tennis racquet’s “sweet spot.” Athletes often don’t realize that hitting the ball at the right moment in the precise spot is firstly a question of vision. And to improve your performance, your vision – not just your mind and your body – must be at their peak. Exercise your gaze should therefore be part of your training regimen.

It’s not enough to merely train your body and your mind. You’ve got to train your vision too. And beyond, you have to work the connection between body, mind and vision. This connection was one of the foundations of martial arts. I work with you on this connection that helps you to improve your concentration, to increase your game reading, to experience a greater awareness and improve your performance.

In tennis for example, I have developed an on-court gaze control training to enhance the capacity of players to optimize their attention and awareness during play. My training is based on the combination of 3F© and PMP. 3F© is based on the sequence Flight, Focus and Fixation. The Parallel Mode Process (PMP) is developed by Scott Ford and based on the switch of our focus from the ball to the contact zone.

Refining your vision and attention will directly improve your concentration allowing you to easily eliminate external distractions and stay focused on your game. Your eye-hand-body coordination will improve enhancing your timing and body control. You will react faster, more accurately and with better balance. Gaze control will translate directly into a competitive advantage. Finally, by working your perception and your gaze you develop a greater awareness. This new way of training will have a direct and significant impact on your ability to learn, play and perform.

Working on your perception and gaze control, you can expect substantially greater results than any achieved by conventional coaching and training programs.

Prepare yourself for the changes to your performance in your sport, develop your perception and awareness and get ahead of the game!
